High Adventure by the Saltless Sea
Academic pet name for the still partially-hypothetical civilization that existed an unknown but enormous number of years ago. Its existence has been surmised from a handful of merely ancient records and the existence of seemingly-impossible artifacts such as the impossibly-high mountain Sunspike in the Western Lands and the Saltless Sea itself.
“Eonic Magocracy” is semi-gibberish for “civilization ruled by magic at the dawn of time”, and the only real facts that are (possibly) known about it are that a) its ruler sat on something known as the Oaken Throne and b) that it was destroyed in a series of titanic magical duels. Virtually everything from the existence of owlbears to the high concentration of iron in the soil of Gor has been linked to the supposed omnipotence of the Magocracy’s citizens, to the extent that bringing it up in an academic forum has become a near-certain way to invalidate your argument and halt further discussion.
